Every few weeks the lineup of THE GAME 103.7 Lafayette and 104.1 Lake Charles — Southwest Louisiana’s Sports Station will share a little something about themselves.
This week the team answers the question:
“What was your favorite childhood Christmas gift, and what gift did you really want but never received?”
Hannah Five Names (Morning Producer)
“A dollhouse that my late Poppy gave me with real shingles on top and four rooms with tile, carpet, and wood as the floors. I am actually bringing it to my house now to make all cute miniature things as a side hobby. (yes, I am still a big child at heart). Raw Cookie Dough. My momma never let me get just a big tub of cookie dough to eat. She always said it was bad for me.”
Matt Miguez (Host of Crunchtime with Miguez & Meche)
“There’ve been so many good ones. One year, I got a laptop for Christmas. I’ve gotten New Orleans Pelicans tickets for Christmas on a few occasions. But the best present was getting to propose to my wife two years ago at Christmas time. The one present I always asked for and never got had to be a little brother. I remember when I was a kid, I was so tired of being the youngest kid. My older brother would always pick on me like brothers do, so I wanted another brother to where I could pick on him and teach him the lessons my brother taught me.”
Clint Domingue (Host of Under the Dome)
“The best gift I ever received on Christmas Day has to be when I got a Nintendo 64. I vividly remember getting that and playing Super Mario 64 and Mario Kart 64 for most of the day in the living room. The one thing I never got for Christmas was a skateboard. As a child of the 90s and early 2000s, I always wanted a skateboard just because it was cool. Now that I look back at it, I’m kinda glad I didn’t because I probably would’ve broken some bones because I can be pretty clumsy.”
Raymond Partsch III (Host of RP3 & Company)
“There are a few Christmas gifts from my childhood that still stand out to this day. The first was The Sesame Street Activity Table and 2 Chair Set. The chairs were Big Bird and Cookie Monster and the legs of the table were Oscar, Bert, Ernie and Grover. I loved to draw and paint as a kid and I spent countless hours at the table. The second one was the Masters of Universe’s Castle Grayskull playset. I was a huge He-Man fan and spent hours playing with this playset. The final one was the Nintendo Entertainment System console with the combo Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt game. I can’t tell you how many hours I wasted playing those games. As for the one toy that I always wanted but never received was the GI Joe U.S.S. Flag Aircraft Carrier — the more than seven-foot playset was the most elusive and ridiculous toy of my childhood. Not only was it massive but it also cost $100.00 and that was back in 1985. I don’t blame my folks for not buying it.”
Jordy Hultberg (Host of The Jordy Hultberg Show)
“The gift I always remember was my first bike. Orange, banana seat, and raised handle bars. It was so cool, at least in my mind. I rode that bike until the wheels literally fell off.”
James Meche (Afternoon Shows Producer)
“As a kid, I don’t remember getting too many specific gifts. I pretty early on asked for just money or gift cards to places, that way it was easier on the people buying the gifts and I could spend the money whenever and wherever I wanted. A couple of gifts that stood out more recently are the laptop I use to this day and my first car. As a kid, the best one I can think of is probably getting a Thomas the Train set or something Yu-Gi-Oh! related.”
Kevin Foote (Host of Footenotes)
“The best Christmas gift I ever received was a basketball goal. It was a bicentennial edition and it had a red rim, white backboard with blue stars over it. It was a really cool basketball goal. What I always wanted as a kid but never got was a Saints playoff season. Instead, the stupid Falcons cheated us out of the playoffs and I had to watch them beat the Eagles 14-13 in the playoffs. The Saints should have been in the game, and that happened on the same day that a field behind our house caught fire. It was a very scary day for this young man.”
Steve Wiley (Voice of 2-Minute Drill)
“The best Christmas gift I ever received was when I was 22. It was an airline ticket to come to Lafayette. That changed my life. A Christmas gift that I wanted but never got? I don’t really remember ever badly wanting a Christmas gift that I didn’t get.”
