It wasn’t pretty, but the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns had a successful weekend on the diamond, taking two of three from Georgia State on the road.
Let’s take a deeper look at the series and see how the Cajuns looked during their series in Atlanta.
Offense: C+
Despite batting a paltry .176 against Georgia State, they were still able to get things done thanks in large part to several errors committed by the Panthers. You can also give some credit to the long ball over the weekend with four dingers and that really helped the cause.
Infield Defense: D
Thankfully, I’m not grading the Panthers defense because they didn’t play that well over the weekend. The Cajuns infield wasn’t phenomenal, committing three errors that wound up making the series way more competitive than it had to be.
Outfield Defense: C+
Another ho-hum weekend for the outfield with nothing spectacular to put them above a C-plus.
Weekend Rotation: C-
You look at the weekend rotation one by one, it’s a decent weekend. However, the overall numbers just didn’t look great for them allowing 10 runs off 19 hits, walked seven, and struck out 13. The fact that two of the three games went extra innings and the rubber match came down to a two-run bomb by Lahare showed how ineffective they were this weekend.
Bullpen: C
When you look at how the weekend rotation performed for the Cajuns, the bullpen needed to bend, but not break. That’s easier said than done, but they stepped their game up especially when you look at Dylan Moore and Logan Stoelke’s performances. With that in mind, you’ve got to give the bullpen a slightly higher grade.
Overall Grade: C
