Buddy Buckets is starting to come into his own in his rookie season in the NBA and is seeing his hard work start to pay off. Hield was named the Kia Western Conference rookie of the month on Tuesday afternoon.

The former Oklahoma Sooner moved into the starting lineup last month and has started to show his ability on the court, averaging 10.6 points and 2.8 boards a game in the last month. One of his biggest performances was on December 15th against the Indiana Pacers where he put up 21 points and four boards in a 102-95 victory.

On the Eastern Conference side of things, Joel Embiid was named rookie of the month for the Western Conference. Embiid led all rookies in scoring with 19.8 points per game in the last month. The center also had 23 or more points in four of his last five games, including a 33-point performance in a win over the Brooklyn Nets.
