LSU quarterback Joe Burrow has received many honors this season including the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, the Davey O’Brien Award, the Maxwell Award, and the Heisman Trophy. Now he’ll have his name on something bigger than a trophy.
The Athens City School Board announced on Thursday that they will recognize Burrow’s accomplishments by renaming the Athens High School Football Stadium the Joe Burrow Stadium. A ceremony to celebrate this honor is being planned by the school’s booster club.
Burrow was a member of the 2014 Athens Bulldogs Football team that went 14-1, with the only loss coming in the OHSAA Championship game. He was named Ohio Mr. Football in 2014, and the Ohio Gatorade Player of the Year in 2013 and 2014.
Burrow’s epic season continues when he leads the undefeated LSU Tigers against the Oklahoma Sooners in the College Football Playoff Semifinals at Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Saturday, December 28th.
