I do not understand why this happens year in and year out. The Patriots dump a player who was a very good contributor to their team, onto another team in return for picks, has-beens, and never was’ who became good players under “the Patriot (Cheater) Way.” And every time they make these trades, it seems the Patriots are the team that winds up getting the better slice of pie.
Looking at some of these deals throughout New England’s reign of terror; they got a thrid round pick for Randy Moss from Minnesota when he was a shell of his former self. The Cheaters got a first round pick for another washed up ace when they dealt Richard Seymour on the tail end of his career to Oakland for a first round pick! The Patriots were able to get their safety for many years, Patrick Chung with the draft pick they received when they traded that stoobum Matt Cassel and Texans Defensive Coordinator Mike Vrabel to the Chiefs back in 2009. Deion Branch landed these jerks a first round pick when they traded him to Seattle in 2007! Stupid idiots!
That is a decade of trades we just went through and that is not even close to half of them. New England is constantly doing this during free agency periods, during draft days, and even mid-season. They just dealt a stud linebacker, Jamie Collins, to Cleveland last season and even though on paper Collins for a third rounder makes no sense, nobody doubted New England. They went on and won the Super Bowl without him and are doing just fine. Oh! And they have more picks in the draft this year because of that trade too.
Why, for the love of the football gods are teams still making these deals with New England? Why are teams frothing at the mouth to make a deal for Jimmy Garrapolo? Just because he won some games against bad teams early in the 2016 season? Just because the Patriots are saying “we’re not trading him” do these general managers of other teams think to themselves, “oh he must be really good if they don’t wanna deal him! He’s the next Brady!” Fools!
Now we hear that the Saints are thinking about trading speedster Brandin Cooks for Malcolm Butler. A Patriots hero who made his name in one of the biggest plays in Super Bowl history. A guy who burst onto the scene as a top cover corner the last few years. A top cover corner who plays for the Patriots. That is like an asterisk. If they haven’t succeeded elsewhere, and their name is not Brady, why make a deal with New England. Hell, even if Butler was good somewhere else before New England I wouldn’t. Mickey, Sean….look at the history of swindling. Look at the bad luck you’ve had. Do not make this deal. You can get something for Cooks from someone else. Please don’t sign that paper!
