With the NFL season drawing near, that means EA Sports’ annual release of the Madden NFL franchise is even closer to coming out. EA released the first rookie ratings on Thursday and it should come as no surprise that former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow is the highest-rated amongst rookie QBs.
The number one overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft paced the field by a fairly wide margin at 76 overall, followed by Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins (73), Jordan Love of the Green Bay Packers (71) and Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers (70).
Burrow is coming off of one of the best seasons in the history of college football, completing 76.3 percent of his passes for 5,671 yards, 60 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
The Athens, Ohio native’s overall rating is largely helped by his high accuracy ratings. Of all rookie quarterbacks, Burrow is first in short throwing accuracy (88), medium throwing accuracy (84) and deep throwing accuracy (85).
EA Sports captured the rookie QBs reactions to their respective ratings and you see several of the rookies’ reaction below.
