Keuchel aims to slow Yankees in Houston

Posted by on June 25, 2015 in Latest News

Dallas Keuchel will look to bounce back from his last outing when he opposes Adam Warren and the Yankees on Thursday in the opener of a four-game series at Minute Maid Park. The lefty allowed a season-high five earned runs against the Mariners on Saturday.

Keuchel is seeking his ninth win of the season, while Warren is going for his sixth.

In his most recent outing, Warren pitched a gem, matching a career high in strikeouts (seven) and establishing a career high in innings (eight) against the Tigers on Friday.

Three things to know about this game

• Brett Gardner has heated up for the Yankees, batting .500 with 12 runs scored, two doubles, a triple and four home runs in his past seven games.

• Keuchel has experience against six Yankees batters in his career, having faced Gardner, Carlos Beltran, Chase Headley, Garrett Jones, Mark Teixeira and Chris Young. In six at-bats against Keuchel, Headley has hit .500 with three RBIs and a homer.

• The Astros went 4-2 against the Yankees last season.
