In less than 24 hours, LSU’s defensive coordinator is now headed back to the state of Alabama.
Kevin Steele, who joined the LSU Tigers as a defensive coordinator after the 2014 season, is now the new defensive coordinator for the university of Auburn after an announcement from head coach Gus Malzahn on Wednesday afternoon.
The rumors began swirling about Steele filling the vacant defensive coordinator position in on Wednesday morning. Steele, 57, made a little over a million dollars and his buyout is set to be $500,000 according to the Baton Rouge Advocate.
It is expected for defensive line coach Ed Orgeron to be promoted to Steele’s position, but nothing has been confirmed at this time.
