This series between the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (26-20, 12-9 Sun Belt) and Georgia State (21-22, 7-13 Sun Belt) has been quite entertaining and Sunday’s series finale was no different with a late home run being the difference in the rubber match.
How It Happened
The Panthers offense exploded in the second with Will Kilgore and Ryan Glass both hitting solo shots to left field to take an early lead. Daniel Lahare cut the lead to one run in the third with a sacrifice fly out to left field, getting Kole McKinnon across home plate.
After Kendall Ford scored off of a double play ball hit by Nick Gatewood in the third, the Cajuns responded in the fifth with a five-run inning capped off by a three-run bomb by Gavin Bourgeois.
Jonathan Windham kept it going in the 6th with an RBI single to make it a 7-3 ballgame. However, the Panthers knotted things up in the bottom of the eighth with a four-run inning highlighted by a two-run double by Kalen Puckett.
With two outs in the top of the 9th, Daniel Lahare stepped up to the plate and delivered with a two-run blast out to right field to take the lead.
Dylan Moore improved to 3-3 on the season, allowing one run off of two hits and struck out one in two innings of relief work.
Big Number: 4
Georgia State kept letting the Cajuns get back into the ballgame, committing four errors, two of which contributed to a big fifth inning.
Player of the Game: Daniel Lahare
He may have went one-of-four on the afternoon, but he made sure it counted with a two-run bomb to right field.
