EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice’s Jaxon Landreneau has been named the NJCAA Division I Player of the Week, the organization announced on Wednesday. Landreneau received the award for the sixth week of the NJCAA award calendar from March 6 to March 12.
He’s the first Bengal to earn NJCAA weekly honors since Conor Benge was named Pitcher of the Week during the 2023 season, and the first field player since Jarrett McDonald during the 2021 campaign.
Landreneau etched his name to LSU Eunice history, becoming the first Bengal baseball player to hit for the cycle during a 20-6 victory over Southeast Arkansas on Friday.
The Sam Houston HS product began his big night getting one of the harder hits in the cycle out of the way – a home run. The redshirt freshman launched a two-run bomb to left center, breaking a tie and giving LSUE a 4-2 lead it would never surrender. The homer was part of a seven-run second inning.
A single to left field followed in the third inning and the double came in the fourth- driving in two more runs to push the LSUE lead to 10-5. The cycle would be completed with a two-out triple down the left field.
LSUE is on the road today for an afternoon contest against Bossier Parish and return home this weekend for a series against North Iowa Area CC.
