The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (1-2) needed to get out of the Lone Star State on a high note and did just that on Sunday with a 2-1 victory over the Texas Longhorns (1-2).
It was a slow start for both teams, but the Cajuns finally got on the board in the top of the fifth with an RBI single from Hayden Cantrelle. The lead didn’t last long though with Austin Todd hitting a sac fly out to right field in the bottom of the fifth tied things up.
Gavin Bourgeois wound up being the deciding factor on Sunday afternoon with an RBI double down the right field line in the seventh.
Brock Batty got the first win of his collegiate career in relief of Hogan Harris, who left early due to injury. Batty allowed one run off of two hits, walked three, and struck out one in six innings of work. Logan Stoelke earned the save, getting the last out in the ninth.
The Cajuns will return to action on Wednesday night when they take on Southeastern (2-1) with first pitch set for 6 pm.
