Louisiana Early Signing Period Tracker

With the Early Signing Period getting underway today, here’s a look at who’s signed the dotted line for Michael Desormeaux and the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns.

Mason Clinton (6’5″, 265 lb DL, Petal, MS)

This is a position that you can never have too much depth, and with players like Zi’Yon Hill-Green and Andre Jones leaving, it’s a smart move by this Cajuns coaching staff to address that position early on.

Kody Jackson (6’2″ 180 lbs, S, Evangel Christian)

A three-star prospect by On3, Jackson comes to Cajun Country from a Louisiana prep powerhouse. He brings speed and physicality to a Cajuns secondary that will have holes to fill with Eric Garror and Bralen Trahan both departing after Friday’s bowl game.

Micah Johnson (6’2″ 230 lbs LB, Parkview Baptist)

Johnson also comes from a Louisiana powerhouse. He received offers from four other schools in the state, including Southeastern and Nicholls.

Tavion Smith (6’2″ 208 lbs WR, Jones County JC)

A transfer from the junior college ranks, Smith comes in with college experience. The Hattiesburg, MS product will step into a room that’s also depleted with the departures of Michael Jefferson, John Stephens, and Dontae Fleming.

Caden Jensen (6’6″ 240 lb TE, Flower Mound, TX)

Jensen is a three-star prospect on On3 and will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact. His long wing span and big frame will make him a strong target in the passing game for Desormeaux and his staff.

Xzavier Brown (6’7″ 295 lb OL, Ashdown, AR)

Offensive Line was a weaker spot for Louisiana in 2022, so it isn’t a surprise to see the Cajuns attacking this spot early on. Brown is a physical lineman that has good footwork as well.

Cooper Fordham (6’2″ 260 lb IOL, Jacksonville, FL)

Fordham has been linked to the Cajuns for a while now, as the Florida product will come to Acadiana in a position of need. The three-star prospect also had offers from Louisville, Troy, and Gardner-Webb.

John Bragg (6’5″ 270 lb OT, Austin, TX)

Bragg visited campus earlier this month and was convinced he belonged. The Cajuns fought off Missouri and Sam Houston to land the Texas lineman.

Daylon Sibley (6’0″ 215 lb LB, Lake Charles College Prep)

Sibley was a last-minute addition to the class, as most recruiting services don’t have an offer from Louisiana on his profile. Regardless, Sibley stays in the state after receiving an offer from Arizona State.

Zavion Coleman (6’3″ 285 lb DL, Picayune, MS)

Coleman recently played in the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Game earlier this month and received an offer from division rival Southern Miss to stay in state. However, the defensive lineman decided to sign with Desormeaux and the Cajuns.

Kadarius Miller (6’2″ 270 lb DE, Copiah-Lincoln CC)

Miller comes to Louisiana from a strong community college program in Copiah-Lincoln. A two-star prospect by 247 Sports, Miller will add depth to a position that is one of need going forward.

KeDarius Wade (6’4″ 180 lb ATH, Jackson, MS)

Wade joins the 2023 class from Callaway HS in Mississippi. It appears Wade will play wide receiver in the Vermilion and White with his height. The Cajuns fought off Louisiana Tech, Arkansas State, Mississippi State, and Southern Miss.

Jay’Veon Haynes (5’9″ 175 lb RB, Woodlawn HS)

Louisiana has a good history of getting in-state running backs, and Hyanes will certainly join that list. The three-star prospect comes from a strong program in the Baton Rouge area, and he chose the Cajuns over Nicholls.

AJ Jayroe (6’4″ 190 lb WR, Frisco, TX)

Jayroe will join Louisiana’s class as a three-star prospect at the wide receiver position. Another long-armed, physical player, the Cajuns fought off Utah, Kansas, and Sam Houston State to land Jayroe.

Trey Fite (6’5″ 220 lb LB, SMU)

Fite was a three-star prospect out of HS in Tatum, Texas, but decided to stay close to home at SMU. The Cajuns offered him out of high school, and he now decides to come to Cajun Country.

Jeremiah Moses (6’0″ 175 lb CB, Belle Chase HS)

Moses was one of the earliest verbal commitments to the Class of 2023, coming from the south side of the New Orleans metro area. Moses is a three-star prospect by On3 and was also offered by Air Force.

Lance Williams (6’3″ 260 lb DE, Holy Cross HS)

Williams joins Moses as an early commit to Louisiana in the Class of 2023. Another in-state three-star, Louisiana remained his only official offer. At 6’3″ and 260 lbs, Williams can certainly make an impact in this class.

Chase Edwards (6’7″ 240 lb DE, Houston, TX)

Coming from the fertile recruiting bed that is Southeast TX, Edwards will look to make a splash at the next level. A three-star prospect from Cypress Falls, he will be a monster at 6’7″ once he steps into a college weight room.

Matthew Broussard (6’4″ 280 lb OL, ED White HS)

Broussard, another in-state player, will stay home after spending four years with an HS staple with ED White. Broussard has been in the Class of 2023 for Louisiana since June.

Ty Stamey (6’5″ 235 lb TE, Houston, TX)

Stamey is a three-star prospect according to On3 that will beef up the Louisiana tight-end group. Stamey also had offers from Tulane, UTSA, North Texas, and others.

Elijah โ€œBillโ€ Davis (5โ€™9โ€ 210 lb RB, Riversidr Academy)

Davis is a three-star prospect from Reserve, LA. He has been a star both on the field and in the classroom and will bring a combo of speed and power to the running back room. The Cajuns had to fend off Vanderbilt late in the cycle to keep Davis.

Harvey Broussard (6’2″ 175 lb WR, St Martinville HS)

Broussard will stay close to home with the Cajuns after being verbally committed to Memphis. He also had offers from Arkansas State, Arizona, Arkansas, and others.
