The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (22-18) headed to J.C. Love Field on Tuesday night looking for a measure of revenge on Tuesday night. They were able to do just that, coming away with a 9-4 win over Louisiana Tech (29-14) thanks to a big performance from Austin Perrin.
How It Happened
The Cajuns wasted very little time getting out in front, with a pair of runs coming from two different errors by the Bulldogs start David Leal. Hunter Kasuls closed things out in the first with a sac fly out to center field that scored Gavin Bourgeois.
Louisiana Tech responded in the bottom frame with a pair of singles to start the inning and cashed in courtesy of a grounder to shortstop, scoring Hunter Wells.
However, Daniel Lahare made it a three-run ballgame in the second with a two-out single right up the middle to get Kole McKinnon across.
Louisiana put things out of reach in the eighth with a three-run inning capped off by a two-run single from Bourgeois.
Austin Perrin improved to 3-5 on the season allowing one run off of five hits, walked one, and struck out three on the evening.
Big Number: 3
The Bulldogs came out the gate on the wrong foot on defense, with all three of their errors being committed by David Leal. Those errors piled up with three of the first four runs the Cajuns had coming from the miscues.
Player of the Game: Austin Perrin
Perrin had a solid outing on Tuesday, going eight innings and allowing only one run off of five hits. That saved the bullpen for Wednesday night against Louisiana Tech and they might need it depending who the starter will be.
