We all know we have it good in Louisiana and even with the negative press the state seems to receive from many national outlets, we know our state still has much to offer.
US News and World Report just released the 2019 Best Places to live in the country. The list consists of the top 125 cites that offer the amenities that make living and raising a family the best in comparison to other communities.
US News considered several factors when producing the annual poll. Those factors play a very important roll in a family’s decision to move into a community. Some of the factors used in the methodology included –
- Job Market including unemployment index and the availability of jobs
- Value Index including housing prices and real estate market
- Quality of Life Index including the crime rate, quality of education and commuting time and the availability of transportation
- Desirability Index measures whether or not people want to live in a given metro area
You can view the complete methodology here.
The #1 place in 2019 to live is Autin, TX followed by Denver and Colorado Springs, CO. Ranking #4 which could be a surprise to many was Fayetteville, AR. Rounding out the top 5 is Des Moines, IA.
Louisiana did have cities ranked in the top 125 and they include-
- #96 Lafayette which was also named the happiest city in America by MarketWatch and the best city to live in the state which we reported last week according to Insider.
- #101 Baton Rouge
- #114 New Orleans
- #122 Shreveport
