Louisiana Ragin Cajuns Come Up Clutch in Win Over Coastal Carolina

Posted by clintdomingue on May 4, 2019 in Blogs, Latest News

After a convincing win on Friday night, the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns showed that they can overcome a four-run inning and were able to clinch the series with a 9-7 win.

How It Happened:

Todd Lott got things going for the Cajuns in the top of the third with one swing of the bat, drilling a three-run jack to left field. The Chanticleers responded in the bottom frame though, putting up four runs capped off by a two-run single from Zach Biermann to give them the lead.

Brennan Breaux got the lead back in the fifth when he connected on a two-out, two-run single to make it a 5-4 ballgame. Coastal Carolina tied things up in the bottom frame with a solo shot from Jake Wright, but it didn’t last long with the Cajuns putting up another two-run inning thanks to an Orynn Veillon RBI double and Lott scoring off of a wild pitch in the sixth.

Things looked dicey with Coastal being within one run headed into the ninth, but Hunter Kasuls and Todd Lott erased any doubts with a pair of two-out RBI singles.

Big Number: 13

The number 13 was a double-edged sword on Saturday with the Cajuns amassing 13 hits, but stranded 13. If not for a consistent offensive effort, this could have been another missed opportunity of a ballgame.

Player of the Game: Todd Lott

Lott was phenomenal at the dish, going three-of-six with four RBIs. Three of those came off of that home run in the third, but it was still an impressive performance from him.

Next Up: Sunday at Coastal Carolina; First Pitch at 9:30 am
