Saturday’s victory for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns was nothing short of spectacular. 19 runs off of 25 hits was more than enough to cruise to a 19-8 win over UL Monroe in seven innings.
How It Happened:
The Cajuns got on the board early with an RBI double down the left field line by Hunter Kasuls, but the Warhawks responded in the bottom of the first off of a groundout by Chad Bell, scoring Joey Jordan. After a sac fly by Alex Hannie in the second, the Cajuns really started to pull away with a three-run third inning that was highlighted by an RBI single from Daniel Lahare.
After Bell connected with a solo shot in the bottom of the third, Louisiana rattled off five runs in the fourth which was jumpstarted by a three-run bomb from Kasuls.
UL Monroe tried to rally, but a nine-run seventh was more than enough to force a mercy-rule to be in effect,
Big Number: 25
The Cajuns bats were not only able to make the most of their opportunities, but they also dominated at the dish with 25 hits in seven innings. Whatever they did in Monroe needs to be duplicated in South Carolina when they get to the Sun Belt Tournament.
Player of the Game: Hunter Kasuls
Kasuls was perfect at the plate on Saturday, going six-for-six with five RBIs and was a triple shy of the cycle.
