The Tulane Green Wave bats were just too much on Wednesday night for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns to handle with a pair of home runs early, resulting in a 7-3 for the Green Wave.
How It Happened:
The Green Wave got on the board early with a solo shot from Kody Hoese in the bottom of the first to take the early lead. Hudson Haskin followed that up with a two-run bomb out to left field that gave them a convincing 3-0 lead in the third.
Kole McKinnon responded for the Cajuns in the fourth with an RBI double out right center field to score Orynn Veillon, but Haskin struck again with a two-run single up the middle to pull even further ahead. Hayden Cantrelle may not have had as dominant of a game compared to Tuesday night, but he was still impactful at the dish with a solo shot in the fifth inning to make it a 6-2 ballgame.
McKinnon racked up another RBI double in the sixth, but a well-hit double from Frankie Niemann helped keep the Cajuns at bay.
Big Number: 5
The pitching staff for the Cajuns just couldn’t figure out the Tulane bats, striking out only five batters on the evening and walked five on the evening. While that doesn’t seem like much, the fact that the team batted for an average of .312 really shows the root of the problem for the Cajuns at least on Wednesday night.
Player of the Game: Hudson Haskin
Haskin was feasting at the plate with a two-run bomb in the third and a two-run single in the fourth and really helped Tulane’s cause.
