There have been several players who have shared their intentions to stay with the Louisiana program, including Maddie Hayden, Alexa Langeliers, Sam Roe, Kayla Falterman, and others.
Louisiana hired former multi-sport athlete and Louisiana Athletics Hall of Famer Alyson Habetz to be the next softball coach on Tuesday. The Crowley native spent 25 seasons as an assistant coach at Alabama, helping lead the Tide to 12 Women’s College World Series appearances and one national title.
Shortly after the announcement, Sam Landry and Alexa Langeliers entered the transfer portal as well, joining the previous five. Landry then committed to four-time defending national champion Oklahoma while Langeliers is headed to Texas Tech, making the infielder the fifth player to follow Glasco.
Over the coming days, Habetz will have the task of building the roster, assembling her coaching staff, and speaking with the players both in and out of the transfer portal before fall practice gets underway in August.
Habetz has picked up Sage Hoover from the transfer portal, a pitcher from Northwestern State and Texas Tech. She was the Southland Conference Freshman of the Year in 2022.
