Things were under control early in Tuesday’s matchup between the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, but the wheels fell off and fast in the fifth and it resulted in an 11-3 loss for the Cajuns.
How It Happened:
The Bulldogs wasted little time getting on the board in the first with a solo shot from Mason Mallard to take the early lead. Handsome Monica responded in the bottom frame and gave the Cajuns a 2-1 lead with a two-run shot.
That lead didn’t last long though with Manny Garcia tying things up with a two-out RBI single in the second inning. Things got out of control though in the fifth with a four-run inning by Louisiana Tech that was highlighted by an RBI triple from Hunter Wells.
Brennan Breaux cut the deficit to three in the bottom frame with a one-out RBI single, but it wasn’t enough as the Bulldogs slammed the door shut with a three-run inning highlighted by a two-run double from Parker Bates.
Big Number: 6
The Cajuns didn’t have much control on Tuesday night and hitting six batters was a big reason why they suffered a tough loss. You can’t give that many free passes and expect to win a ballgame.
Player of the Game: Tanner Huddleston
Tanner Huddleston looked great on Tuesday night with a 3-for-4 outing and two RBIs. That being said, the Bulldogs offense as a whole was solid with eight of the 11 runs coming courtesy of three players.
