Fresh off of a big win on the road over Ohio, one part of the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns three-headed monster in Elijah Mitchell was honored on Monday by the Sun Belt, being named Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
The junior was dominant over the weekend, carrying the football 17 times for 143 yards and three touchdowns. The 143 yards were a season best and his performance on Saturday marked the fourth time in his career where he had three touchdowns in a game.
He eclipsed the 100-yard mark for the sixth time in his career. Mitchell has now had at least two scores in back-to-back games.
This is the first time this season that a Cajun received player of the week honors and the first time since October 8th, 2018 that the Erath native has received the Offensive Player of the Week honor.
The Cajuns will stay on the road when they travel to Statesboro on Saturday when they take on Georgia Southern.
