Fresh off of a career game against UL Monroe, Jalen Johnson was named Sun Belt Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.
Johnson, a Baton Rouge native, scored a career-high 27 points on 7 of 10 shooting in an 81-60 win over ULM last Saturday at the Cajundome. The University Lab product really shined in the first half, racking up 19 points and seven boards on the way to a 36-27 at the half.
This is the first award for Johnson, who averages a team-high 15.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. He is also the first Cajun to receive the honor since JaKeenan Gant was named the Sun Belt Player of the Week on Jan. 14, 2019.
The Cajuns will return to action on Thursday, getting back out on the road for a Texas Two-Step starting with UT Arlington with tipoff set for 7 pm.
