The LSU Tigers football team is quite busy in early January. Lane Kiffin and his staff continue to build their roster.
Today, they announced the addition of six more players to the 2026 roster via the NCAA Transfer Portal. Safety Ty Benefield, defensive tackle Stephiylan Green, wide receivers Jayce Brown and Eugene “Tre” Wilson, running back Rod Gainey Jr. and punter Hayden Craig will all play for LSU this upcoming season.
Benefield, one of the top ranked safety transfers, comes from Boise State. He had 235 tackles and five interceptions across 41 games with the Broncos.
Green appeared in 24 games across three seasons for Clemson. He totaled 3.5 sacks and had a season-best six tackles when LSU faced Clemson to start the 2025 season.
Brown enters after a decorated career with Kansas State. He is top-10 in program history in both receiving yards and touchdowns and had almost 2,000 yards during his time in Manhattan.
Wilson transfers over from Florida where he was a Freshman All-American back in 2023. He played in four games in 2024, and then opted to take a redshirt.
Gainey Jr comes from Charlotte, where he led the team in rushing in 2025. He also caught 16 passes with the 49ers this season.
Craig joins LSU after redshirting at Florida this past season. He was a top-5 ranked punter out of high school.
