The LSU baseball team will play Nicholls on Sunday in an exhibition game.

BATON ROUGE — The LSU football team may be off this weekend for its bye week but the baseball team will be in action.

LSU will play an exhibition game against Nicholls on Sunday at Ray Didier Field in Thibodaux. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. and admission is free.

The television broadcast meanwhile will be produced by the Jumbo Sports Network, and it will air live on Cox Sports Television. Announcers Ronnie Rantz, Jeff Palermo and Carley McCord will describe the action, and the telecast will feature dugout interviews with players and coaches throughout the game.

The LSU-Nicholls game is the second of two exhibition contests during the Tigers’ fall practice period, which began on September 29 and has featured several intra-squad scrimmages.

LSU has already defeated University of New Orleans, 4-3, in its first exhibition game last Sunday in Alex Box Stadium.

The LSU-Nicholls game will be modified as the game will consist of 11 innings, with each half-tinning with consist of three outs or 25 pitches (whichever comes first). The NCAA rule related to the 20-second pitch clock will be in effect for Sunday’s game.

LSU will open up its 2020 regular season on Friday, Feb. 14 against Indiana at home. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
