In what many thought could be Les Miles final game, the LSU Tigers snapped a three game losing streak beating the Texas A&M Aggies 19-7.
After LSU’s defense forced a three-and-out, the LSU Tigers marched down the field and had to settle for three with a 32-yard field goal by Trent Domingue.
The Tigers got the ball back on the ensuing kickoff when Christian Kirk fumbled the ball and Donte Jackson recovered it to give LSU the ball at the Texas A&M 20. But the Tigers were unable to do anything with it, having to settle for a another field goal by Domingue to go up 6-0.
But the Aggies weren’t about to go away quietly marching down the field for a quick 80-yard drive that was capped off by Kyle Allen connecting on a short pass to Ricky-Seals Jones to go up 7-6.
Derrius Guice became the story of the second half for LSU, opening up the second half with a kickoff return that was almost taken to the house after breaking eight tackles. But the Tigers were unable to capitalize on the spectacular field position with Domingue missing yet another field goal.
But Guice put the team on his back with a 50 yard run to give the Tigers back the lead midway through the third quarter.
The Tigers got the ball with around ten minutes left and began a methodical ground-and-pound drive that led to Leonard Fournette, who broke the single-season rushing record, getting his 18th touchdown of the year to put the final nail in the coffin.
The Tigers end the regular season with an 8-5 record and a 5-3 record in the SEC. LSU will now have to wait and see who and where they go to for a bowl game.
