LSU’s self-proclaimed “DBU” took a major hit on Wednesday.
Star safety for the Bayou Bengals Jalen Mills suffered a fractured fibula during Wednesday’s morning practice. Mills, who has started all four years at LSU and a leader in the secondary, is expected to be out four to six weeks.
Mills is the most experienced starter on the team playing in and starting all 39 games of his collegiate career. The senior led the team in 2014 with 68 stops.
The likely replacement for Mills will be junior safety Rickey Jefferson, brother of former LSU QB Jordan Jefferson.
According to sources, he could be out for the first two games of the season, meaning his return will possibly be during the pivotal matchup against Auburn.
