The LSU Tigers (43-14) earned the No. 6 national seed and will serve as the host for the Baton Rouge Regional. Jay Johnson’s team will host an NCAA Regional for the 28th time in program history.
The other three teams joining regional host and top seed LSU at Alex Box Stadium for the Baton Rouge Regional are No. 2 seed Dallas Baptist (40-16), No. 3 seed Rhode Island (38-20), and No. 4 seed Little Rock (24-32).
LSU will take on Little Rock on Friday, while DBU will face Rhode Island in the other game.
LSU faced off against DBU earlier this season at the College Baseball Series at Globe Life Field in Arlington on February 26th. The Tigers won the game 7-3. In that victory, LSU had five players record two hits each, and those were Derek Curiel, Jared Jones, Daniel Dickinson, Steven Milam, and Jake Brown. Conner Ware pitched four innings, striking out six and giving up one run on one hit. Zac Cowan got the win in relief, pitching three innings and striking out five while giving up two runs on two hits.
The Baton Rouge Regional is paired up with the Clemson Regional, which features host and No. 11 national seed Clemson, West Virginia, Kentucky, and USC Upstate. If LSU wins its regional, the Tigers would host the winner of the Clemson Regional in the Super Regional.
Six of the top eight seeds in the NCAA field are from the Southeastern Conference, with Vanderbilt earning the No. 1 overall spot. The previous time LSU earned a national seed was 2023, the same year it won the national championship.
The four-team, double-elimination regionals will begin play on Friday.
