Keith Hornsby returned in a big way, but it wasn’t enough as the Tigers suffered their fourth loss of the season to the Houston Cougars (6-1) in overtime.

The Cougars jumped out to an early lead, but the Tigers were able to keep up with Houston early on until a late 15-4 run gave the Cougars a 45-36 lead at the half.

The Tigers responded with a burst of energy to start the second half with an 11-2 run. Hornsby gave LSU one more chance with eight seconds left in regulation with a big three to send it to overtime.

But when it came to overtime, Rob Gray Jr. picked up where Danrad Knowles left off, scoring 11 of his 31 points in the overtime period to give the Cougars the big 105-98 overtime victory.

Hornsby led the way for the Tigers with a career high 32 points, one board, three assists, and one steal on the night. Tim Quarterman was right behind him with 27 points, 10 boards, and six assists.

Gray Jr. led the way for the Cougars with 31 points, one assist, and one block. Knowles was behind him with 20 points, nine boards, one assist, and three steals.

The Tigers (4-4) return to the PMAC for the start of a four game home stand taking on Gardner-Webb (4-6) on December 16th with tipoff scheduled for 6 pm.
