It was a beautiful afternoon in Tiger Stadium, as the LSU Tigers matched up with the undefeated and seventh-ranked Ole Miss Rebels for a SEC West showdown. Jayden Daniels accounted for nearly 400 yards and five touchdowns while the Tigers outscored the Rebels 42-3 in the final 44 minutes of the contest as LSU took down Ole Miss 45-20.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The game got started with Ole Miss taking the ball 75 yards down the field in just 97 seconds before Quinshon Judkins punched it in from six yards out to make it 7-0 Rebels early. LSU answered back with a longer, methodical drive down the field before Damien Ramos put the Tigers on the board with a 23-yard field goal to make the score 7-3 with 8:44 left in the opening quarter.

LSU was able to stop Ole Miss on fourth down, but a pass interference call gave the Rebels another chance and they cashed in with another Quinshon Judkins touchdown run to increase the lead to 14-3.

To open the second quarter, Jonathan Cruz hit a 32-yard field goal to increase the Rebels’ lead to 17-3.

LSU found the endzone on a 34-yard strike from Jayden Daniels to Jaray Jenkins, the pride of Jena, Louisiana, to bring the Tigers within a touchdown at the 12:11 mark of the second quarter.

After an Ole Miss punt, LSU marched down the field 78 yards in seven plays before Daniels kept it for a three-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 17 with 8:20 left in the half.

Ole Miss responded with a 48-yard field goal from Cruz to put them back in front 20-17.

LSU took the lead in the third quarter with a one-yard touchdown pass from Daniels to Mason Tyler which made it 24-20 with 8:25 left in the third.

After a big defensive stop by the Tigers, Jayden Daniels ran it in from 11 yards away to cap off a 10-play, 80-yard drive to give LSU the 31-20 lead with 14:18 left in the game.

Another big offense drive, going 80 yards in seven plays, was capped off by a Jayden Daniels 17-yard touchdown run to make it 38-20 Tigers with 8:36 left in the contest.

Josh WIlliams capped off the final drive of the game for the Tigers with a one-yard rush with 2:05 left in the game to seal it for LSU 45-20.

BIG NUMBER: 369

Jayden Daniels accounted for 369 yards of total offense for the Tigers with five total touchdowns (three rushing, two passing).

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Jayden Daniels

Daniels had another breakout performance in this game, throwing for 248 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for 121 yards and three touchdowns.

UP NEXT: LSU will have a bye week as they prepare for their primetime matchup with Alabama. The kickoff for that matchup is TBD.
