The LSU Tigers men’s basketball team improved to 9-4 after their 78-64 win against Tennessee.
How It Happened:
It was the first Southeastern Conference game for both LSU and Tennessee.
Both teams were locked in a close first half of conference play.
The Tigers led 38-37 after the first 20 minutes of action.
LSU pulled away in the second half to earn their 10th straight conference road win.
The Tigers defense held Tennessee to just 27 points the rest of the game, outscoring them 40-27 in the second half.
Javonte Smart led LSU with a game-high 21 points. Smart’s 21-point performance matches his season high single-game point total, as well. Senior guard Skylar Mays recorded 17 points, four assists and five rebounds. One other LSU player scored in double figures. Trendon Watford scored 15 to lead the Tigers to their first conference win.

The Tigers sophomore guard matched his season-high with 21 points and finished with four assists for LSU’s first SEC win of the season.
