LSU GAMER: Tigers Exit SEC Tournament Early With 4-1 Loss to Georgia

Posted by clintdomingue on May 25, 2021 in Blogs, Latest News, LSU Tigers
LSU lost their opening round contest on Tuesday to Georgia 4-1.

The LSU Tigers stay in Hoover has been a short one with a 4-1 loss to Georgia on Tuesday night with all four runs from the Bulldogs coming in the first inning.

How It Happened:

LSU’s bats started off fairly hot with second-team All-SEC teammates Tre Morgan and Dylan Crews hitting back-to-back singles. The Tigers had the bases loaded after Gavin Dugas was hit by a pitch, setting up Cade Doughty to potentially start off a big inning for the Bayou Bengals.

Those hopes were dashed though with Doughty grounding into a double play and only Morgan reached home to give LSU an early 1-0 lead.

Georgia’s bats came alive in the first inning with Ben Anderson hitting a leadoff double. That was quickly followed up by a single up the middle from Cole Tate to put runners at the corners.

After a walk to load the bases, Riley King tied things up with an RBI fielder’s choice that scored Anderson. Later in the inning, Chaney Rogers ripped a double down the right field line that scored three runs to give the Bulldogs a 4-1 lead after one inning complete.

After a rough start by Landon Marceaux, he answered the bell by throwing nine strikeouts over the next seven innings.

LSU had an opportunity to rally in the top of the eighth after Morgan was walked to start the inning. Crews was able to hit a single that dropped just short of the foul line to set up runners at first and second.

After a foul out by Dugas, Doughty was hit by a pitch to load the bases once again. However, Ben Harris struck out the next two batters to silence the Tigers offense

Big Number: 0

Missed opportunities was the name of the game for LSU on Tuesday night, going 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and 0-3 with the bases juiced.

Player of the Game: Jaden Woods

Woods played the bridge guy role extremely well, facing 10 batters over 3 2/3 innings and striking out five. It was a very impressive performance from the freshman for the Georgia native
