The LSU Tigers men’s basketball team go 0-2 for the week.

LSU fell to Kentucky 82-69 on Saturday night after their 30-point loss to Alabama early in the week.

The Tigers are now 10-4 for the season and 5-3 in SEC play.

How It Happened:

The Tigers held an early two-point lead over the Wildcats before Kentucky responded with a 15-3 run.

The Wildcats led 17-7 with 14:52 remaining in the first half.

It didn’t get much better for LSU. Kentucky increased their lead to 16 points with 7:52 remaining in the half. They led 33-17.

Kentucky entered the halftime break up 49-36 over LSU.

LSU started to trim the deficit in the early part of the second half. The Tigers trailed 56-51 with 15:28 left behind Trendon Watford’s scoring in the paint.

Both teams struggled to score over the course of four minutes. A Kentucky 3-pointers and layup increased the Wildcats lead past double digits and LSU could not overcome the deficit from that point.

The Tigers only shot 12-of-31 from the field in the second half after shooting 13-of-34 in the first. LSU also shot just 4-of-23 from the 3-point line.

Kentucky cruised to an 82-69 victory.

LSU’s Watford finished with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Cameron Thomas was second in scoring for the Tigers with 18 points on the night.

Big Number: 15

Kentucky out rebounded LSU by 15 in the win. The Wildcats grabbed 46 rebounds to LSU’s 31. They also grabbed four more offensive rebounds, leading LSU 13-9 on the offensive glass.

Player of the Game: Brandon Boston Jr.

Boston led Kentucky in scoring with 18 points. He was able to affect the game in other ways with six rebounds and three assists.

Up Next: On the road against Texas A&M, Tuesday Jan. 26; Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
