For the third straight game, the LSU Tigers were blown out on Saturday. The latest to take down the Tigers: Ole Miss.
The Rebels wasted little time with Chad Kelly connecting with Quincy Adeboyejo on the first play from scrimmage for 57 yards to get the ball to the LSU 24. But the Tigers were able to hold Ole Miss to three points with Gary Wunderlich sending a 32-yarder through the uprights.
Jaylen Walton extended the Rebels lead with a 2 yard run early in the second quarter. Kelly decided to take on the ground later in the quarter to make it 17-0.
Kelly continued to pile it on with a pass to Laquon Treadwell to give the Rebels a 24-0 lead close to the end of the first half. But the Tigers were able to click in the waning seconds and get on the board with Brandon Harris connecting with Tyron Johnson to make it 24-7 heading into the locker room.
Trent Domingue cut it down to two touchdowns with a 43 yard field goal. The Tigers came within one on their next drive with William Clapp recovering a fumble in the endzone.
But the Rebels put the Tigers hopes of a rally to bed with Kelly getting his second rushing TD of the game from 11 yards out. The final nail in the coffin was when Kelly got his third passing TD connecting with Evan Engram from 36 yards out.
LSU (7-3, 4-3 SEC) will try to salvage their season next Saturday to take on Texas A&M (7-3, 3-3 SEC) in Death Valley with kickoff set for 6:30 pm.
