Louisiana is sending four teams to the NCAA Tournament.
Three days after longtime coach Paul Mainieri emotionally announced his retirement, LSU received one of the final at-large spots in the tournament Monday.
LSU (34-22) received the No. 3 seed in the NCAA Eugene Regional which is its 33rd regional berth in program history, and ninth consecutive under Mainieri.
The other three teams in the regional are Oregon, Central Connecticut and Gonzaga. LSU will open up regional play against Gonzaga at 9 p.m. on Friday.
Louisiana Tech (40-18) will be making their first NCAA Regional appearance since 2016, and will be hosting a regional for the first time in program history.
The Bulldogs were ranked in the Top 25 this season and finished as runner-up in the Conference USA Tournament over the weekend.
Louisiana Tech received the No. 16 national seed. The other three teams in the NCAA Ruston Regional are Alabama, NC State and Rider. Louisiana Tech will open regional play against Rider on Friday at 6 p.m.
The Bulldogs won two and lost two games in the 2016 Starkville Regional. Louisiana Tech lost 0-1 to Cal State Fullerton, defeated Southeast Missouri 9-4 and Cal State Fullerton 6-2 before being eliminated with a 4-0 loss to host Mississippi State.
McNeese (32-28) received the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Fort Worth Regional. The Cowboys are in the field after winning the Southland Conference Tournament as the No. 7 seed over the weekend.
The other three teams in the regional are TCU (host), Oregon State and DBU. McNeese will play host TCU at 6 p.m. on Friday.
This marks the second consecutive NCAA Regional for the Cowboys. McNeese played in the Nashville Regional in 2019 and dropped both games it played — a 6-5 loss to Indiana State and a 9-8 loss to Ohio State in 13 innings.
Southern (20-28) meanwhile earned the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Austin Regional. The Jaguars are in the field after winning the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament.
The other three teams in the regional are Texas, Fairfield and Arizona State. Southern will take on host Texas at 1 p.m. on Friday to open the regional.
Like the Cowboys, this marks the second consecutive NCAA Regional for the Jaguars. Southern played in the Starkville Regional in 2019 and lost 11-6 to host Mississippi State and then 12-2 to Miami.
