The 2019 recruiting class for the LSU Tigers was one of the best in the country with three five-star commits. Now, one of those top commits in Marcel Brooks entered the transfer portal on Friday.
The Fort Worth, Texas, native played in 11 games as a freshman and recorded eight tackles and 1.5 sacks while playing often as a pass-rush specialist.
He played well enough as a freshman to potentially position himself for a starting role this season, but LSU is undergoing a defensive coordinator switch as Bo Pelini takes over following Dave Aranda’s departure for the head job at Baylor. With the change also comes a shift in defensive philosophy, focusing more on a 4-3 defense as opposed to Aranda’s 3-4.
