The LSU Tigers are headed to Wisconsin.
The LSU men’s basketball team earned the No. 6 seed in the Midwest Region on Sunday and will face off against No. 11 seed Iowa State in the first round of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
The Tigers (22-11) will take on the Cyclones (20-12) on Friday inside the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. It will be the first meeting on the hardwood between the two schools.
The winner of the LSU-Iowa State game will face either No. 3 Wisconsion or No. 14 Colgate on Sunday.
This is the third straight NCAA Tournament berth for LSU. It is also the first time the Tigers have gone to at least three consecutive NCAA Tournaments since going to 10 straight from 1984 to 1993.
LSU will look to make a tourney run without its head coach.
Fifth-year head coach Will Wade was fired by the university on Saturday for cause after the NCAA handed LSU a notice of allegations. Wade was cited for five Level 1 violations.
Assistant coach Kevin Nickelberry will serve as interim coach for the Tigers’ NCAA Tournament run.
