It seemed like an inevitability after the departure of Matt Canada, but the LSU Tigers announced on Wednesday afternoon that they would promote Steve Ensminger to the role of offensive coordinator. Ed Orgeron also announced that they will introduce the new coordinator in a press conference on Thursday at noon.
After Orgeron was put in the interim role in the 2016 season, Ensminger was put in the role of offensive coordinator and directed an LSU offense that averaged 32 points and 465 total yards per game in the final eight games of the season.
Ensminger has been widely regarded for his development of quarterbacks during his time with the program since 2010. He also played for the Tigers from 1977-79 under Charlie McClendon.
