Ja’Marr Chase hauled in a weekly honor on Monday.
The LSU sophomore wide receiver was named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. In Saturday’s 58-37 win over Ole Miss, Chase caught 8 passes for 227 yards and scored 3 touchdowns.
All eight of Chase’s receptions resulted in either a first down or touchdown. It was also the fifth time in six SEC games that Chase eclipsed the 100-yard receiving mark.
Chase also became LSU’s single-season leader in receiving touchdowns (13) and became the first Tiger with two 200-yard receiving games during one regular season. The 227 receiving yards was also the fifth most in a single game in LSU history, and Chase also has the fourth most in history when he caught 229 yards against Vanderbilt earlier this season.
Chase is also the first LSU wide receiver to have three-straight 100-yard games, and is the seventh wide receiver in program history to have a 1,000-yard season.
Chase currently leads the SEC in receiving touchdowns (13), receiving yards (1,116 yards) and receiving yards per game (124.0).
