The LSU Tigers appear bound for a New Year’s Six Bowl Game.
With Saturday’s 13-10 win over Arkansas and Alabamna’s win over Ole Miss, LSU clinched the Southeastern Conference West Division title and a spot in the SEC Championship Game against defending national champion Georgia.
With that spot secured, LSU is now projected to play in one of the New Year’s Day Six Bowl Games. So which one of the premier games are the Tigers bound for? It appears the overwhelming favorite is the location where LSU began its season — the Caesar’s Superdome.
In their most recent projections, CBS Sports, Sports Illustrated, Athlon Sports, Action Network, ESPN and Saturday Down South predict that LSU will play in the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on Saturday, December 31st against Kansas State.
Those predictions are not unanimous.
ESPN’s other bowl expert — Mark Schlabach — projects LSU playing in a different New Year’s Six Bowl Game — the Capital One Orange Bowl on Friday, December 30th against Clemson. That is the same bowl that The Sporting News projects for LSU with the only difference being the opponent — North Carolina instead of Clemson.
247 Sports meanwhile has LSU in a different New Year’s Six Bowl Game, as that outlet projects LSU in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl on Monday, January 2nd against UCF.
The bowl berths will be officially announced on Sunday, December 4th.
