Based off of the last three games for the LSU Tigers, the preseason hype for this team may have been just that.
The Tigers were upset in a Monday night matchup against the Charleston Cougars (4-2) by the score of 70-58.
Charleston stormed out of the gates early with a 13-0 to take the lead 24-10. The Cougars steadily increased their lead and headed into the locker room at the half with a 37-19 lead.
The Tigers brought the pressure defensively early on in the second half and began to cut away at the lead and came as close as 63-56 with around a minute left in the game. But the Cougars were able to keep the Tigers at bay, which led to the College of Charleston students to storm the court in celebration of handing the Tigers their third straight loss.
Canyon Barry led the way for the Cougars with 19 points, three boards, and two assists on the night. Cameron Johnson was right behind the junior guard with 13 points, six boards, four assists, and one steal.
Ben Simmons racked up his fifth double-double in six games with 15 points, 18 boards, four assists, one steal, and a block.
The Tigers (3-3) will head back to the PMAC to take on North Florida (6-2) with tipoff scheduled for 7 pm.
