EUNICE, La. – It will be a season of new beginnings in many ways for LSU Eunice Baseball as the Bengals embark on the 2025 regular season, set to begin on Friday, January 24. The 2024 NJCAA Division II National Champions will not only move up to NJCAA Division I but is set to unveil its new state-of-the-art facility.
The Bengals, now in their 23rd season under the direction of Hall of Fame and eight-time National Championship head coach Jeff Willis will move up to compete in Division I of NJCAA Baseball, and with it, join the Louisiana Community Colleges Athletic Conference (LCCAC) alongside Delgado CC, Baton Rouge CC, and Nunez CC.
The LCCAC conference schedule consists of home-and-home three-game series, beginning Saturday, March 22 with a home doubleheader against Baton Rouge CC. All four teams will meet in the Region 23 Postseason Tournament from May 3-6, with the winner advancing to a best-of-three series for the South District Championship against the winner of Alabama-based Region 22 at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, AL.
The district champion receives an automatic berth into the NJCAA Baseball Division I World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado later that month.
The 2025 season also marks the first for LSU Eunice in the completely redesigned Bengal Stadium. The state-of-the-art facility is still under construction and may not be “game ready” by the start of the season. All home dates are listed as a to-be-determined site, with game venues being announced closer to play dates.
LSUE will kick off the new campaign with a 24-game homestand, beginning with a three-way series featuring Arkansas State University-Mountain Home and Dallas College North Lake. The Bengals tangle with ASU-Mountain Home in the season opener on Friday, January 24. The Bengals also welcome National Park College (January 31-February 2), Monroe University (February 7-9), Kellogg Community College/Tyler Junior College (February 14-16), Southern Arkansas University Tech (February 21-23), Murray State College (February 28-March 2) and Southeast Arkansas College (March 7-8) for home contests during that stretch.
LSUE will play home-and-home contests with Bossier Parish Community College, South Arkansas College and Centenary College during the season. The Bengals’ three-game series with North Iowa Area Community College (March 14-16) rounds out the non-conference portion of the home slate.
In addition to its LCCAC opener against Baton Rouge CC, LSUE welcomes Nunez CC (April 18-19) and Delgado CC (April 26-27) while traveling for return series throughout the month of April.
The Bengals welcome back three everyday starters from the National Championship team including Defensive Player of the Tournament and All-Tournament team member, Alex Dupuy. Tyson LeBlanc is back after leading LSUE with 67 RBIs and 20 doubles a season ago. Ashton Fuselier is the other returning offensive player for the Bengals.
The pitching staff will be led by Alec Beversdorf, after going 7-2 with a team-best 1.84 earned run average during the 2024 season.
