EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Women’s Basketball used an impressive run in the second and third quarters to produce a 79-52 win over Baton Rouge CC on Wednesday at the HPRE Center. The Bengals (16-9, 5-0 LCCAC) remained the lone unbeaten in conference play at the half point of the LCCAC schedule.

The win was the Bengals 10th straight victory, the program’s first double-digit win streak since the 2019-2020 squad posted 12 in a row. LSUE’s longest win streak in school history is 16 games – set three different times.

Similar to their first meeting, LSU Eunice overcame a slow first quarter by using a big run to push past Baton Rouge for good. The Bengals trailed 17-12 with 7:55 remaining in the second quarter before engineering a 17-0 run in less than three minutes. Simone Clay started and ended the flurry with three-point baskets while Kamiera McDonald connected on a trio of consecutive deep trifectas. The duo scored 19 of the team’s 27 points in the quarter to help the Bengals hold a 37-24 halftime edge.

LSUE continued its domination in the third quarter, outscoring the Bears 23-12 to take a 24-point lead into the final frame, 60-36. Ray’Onna Sterling scored six of her 14 points in the quarter.

McDonald led all scorers with 20 points, making four three-point baskets. Clay added 15 while Mariah Heard and Trinity Thomas each chipped in 10 points each.

The Bengals hit the road this weekend for a Saturday matchup against Delgado CC in New Orleans. Game time from the Michael Williamson Center is set for 2:00PM.
