LSU Eunice Men’s Basketball extended its hot start to the campaign with an 81-65 victory over Centenary College JV on Sunday at the HPRE Center. The Bengals are now 5-0 to start the season and this is the third time in the last five years that they have gotten off to a hot start.
The Bengals were trailed 14-13 by Centenary with 12:44 to go in the first half. LSUE looked towards the outside shooting and defense as they sparked a 16-0 run in less than three minutes. The Bengals knocked down a trio of three-point baskets in the span. The exclamation points of the stretch came on back-to-back turnovers into dunks by Seviuhn Turner and Reginald Stoner.
LSUE forced 19 turnovers and turn those into 31 points. The Bengals would take a 43-35 lead into halftime as Stoner was the leading scorer for LSUE with 10 of his 14 points coming before intermission.
Bryce Roberts continued his strong start to his sophomore campaign, going 4-for-6 from three-point for the team-high 16 points. PJ Dubuol was the other LSUE player to double-digit net points as he put up 10.
The Bengals saw 15 different players score in the game as LSUE’s lead would expand as large as 23 points in the second half. LSUE would also own a sizeable advantage inside as the Bengals outrebounded Centenary 52-31.
LSUE will continue its homestand on Saturday, November 19 as the Bengals entertain Copiah-Lincoln with a 2:00 PM contest. The game can be seen live on the LSUE Digital Network.
