EUNICE — LSU Eunice’s Jonathan Cisse put an exclamation point on his Bengal career as he was earned Region 23 All-Region and All-Tournament Team honors, the NJCAA announced Wednesday.
Cisse was one of seven players that was selected to both squads and the only representative in that group from the LCCAC.
Cisse led all scorers in Region 23 and the LCCAC by averaging 21.8 points per game, which ranked fifth nationally. The former St. Thomas More star also ranked 11th nationally in free throw percentage (87.5%) while adding 4.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.
Cisse leaves LSUE as the all-time leading scorer in program history, with 681 points scored. The Grand Coteau native recently earned both LCCAC First-Team and Player of the Year honors for a second straight season, and has signed to continue his career at Northwestern State University.
LSUE women’s star Alona Washington was also named to All-Region 23 squad and the All-Tournament team. Washington is one of only four players in Region 23 to be named to both the All-Region and All-Tournament teams.
Washington ranked third in Region 23 and 33rd nationally in points per game with 16.8. The guard wrapped up her Bengal career with 672 points, the fifth-most all-time in program history. The sophomore averaged 17.6 points in LSUE’s three Region 23 Tournament games
