Trey Holly had a very special night Saturday night in Death Valley, rushing for 91 yards on six carries and capping it off with a 67-yard touchdown that gave LSU a 62-0 lead late in the game against the Army Black Knights.
For his performance, Holly has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week, according to the conference. He will share the honor with Suntarine Perkins, a linebacker from Ole Miss.
Holly, a true freshman from Farmerville, LA, averaged 15.2 yards per carry on the night and his touchdown run helped LSU get over 200 yards rushing on the night.
Holly’s SEC weekly honor is the sixth for the Tigers football team as he joined Jayden Daniels (3x SEC Offensive Player of the Week), Malik Nabers (SEC Offensive Player of the Week), and Emery Jones (SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week).
The Tigers are on their bye this coming week before traveling to Tuscaloosa to face off against the Alabama Crimson Tide in a 6:45 p.m. kickoff on CBS. Pregame will begin at 4:45 p.m. on ESPN 103.7 Lafayette and 104.1 Lake Charles.
