LSU basketball received some significant honors on Tuesday morning with two of their star players being named All-SEC and one receiving a significant honor.
LSU senior Skylar Mays was named the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Mays received the honor for the second straight season. The senior out of Baton Rouge was also named the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America of the Year for D1 Basketball on Monday. He was also selected to the first-team All-SEC team and the lone representative.
Trendon Watford was named to the league’s all-freshman team. The Birmingham, Alabama native is one of just four freshmen in the top 20 in the SEC in scoring and leads freshmen in rebounds, averaging 7.2 a game.
