LSU’s starting tight end Mason Taylor has been named to the Mackey Award watch list, the school announced on Friday.
The Mackey Award recognizes the nation’s best tight end and is named for former Syracuse and NFL tight end John Mackey.
Taylor is a sophomore from Plantation, Florida. He starred for St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Florida.
As a freshman, he earned Freshman All-SEC honors, catching 38 passes for 414 yards and three touchdowns. He had a career high 88 receiving yards in the bowl game against Purdue.
In 2024, Taylor is expected to be a big part of the LSU offense. He was named to the Preseason All-SEC 2nd Team as voted on by the media at SEC Media Days in Nashville.
