Brian Thomas Jr. joined his teammates as a first-round draft pick.
The LSU big-play wide receiver was selected with the No. 23 overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in Thursday night’s NFL Draft in Detroit.
Thomas joins fellow wide receiver Malik Nabers (No. 6 overall to the New York Giants) and quarterback Jayden Daniels (No. 2 overall to the Washington Commanders). The three first-round selections are the most for LSU since having five players taken in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Thomas Jr. earned Associated Press Third-Team All-American honors last season as he broke out with 68 receptions for 1,177 yards and 17 touchdowns. He averaged 17.3 yards per catch.
In his three seasons with the Tigers, Thomas Jr. appeared in 38 games (27 starts) with 127 receptions for 1,897 yards and 24 receiving touchdowns.
Thomas Jr. also becomes the 10th Tiger wide receiver to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Thomas Jr. joins Nabers (No. 6 in 2024), JaMarr Chase (No. 5 in 2021), Justin Jefferson (No. 22 in 2020), Odell Beckham Jr. (No. 12 in 2014), Craig Davis (No. 30 in 2007), Dwayne Bowe (No. 23 in 2007), Michael Clayton (No. 15 in 2004), Eddie Kennison (No. 18 in 1996), and Wendell Davis (No. 27 in 1988) as wideouts picked in the first round.
