Claiborne Christian junior Allie Wainwright and Family Community freshman Eli Cottingham led their teams to an LHSAA Division V state tournament to conclude this month.
And now the two players have claimed the top awards on the Class C all-state softball and baseball teams, as selected by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Wainwright was voted the Outstanding Player on the softball squad after batting .565 for Division V select semifinalist Claiborne Christian. She hit four home runs and drove in 32 RBI.
In the circle, she recorded 102 strikeouts. Wainwright is joined by teammate and returning all-stater Anna Cate Miller on the LSWA squad.
Cottingham claimed Outstanding Player honors for baseball after leading Family Community to the Division V select title game.
He batted .413 on the season with 32 runs scored and 16 RBIs. Cottingham’s teammates at Family Community — senior Raylee Thomas (.364) and junior Dylan Dunn (.306) — made the LSWA team.
Family Community swept the Coach of the Year honors with softball honors going to Kenny Sepulvado and Cody Moroni getting the nod for baseball.
