This week, I discovered a tiny drive-through cafe in Broussard called Hungry As A Mother. Amy Wellborn, the owner, says she got the idea for the name when she was expecting because she was always hungry.
Amy worked in the beauty industry for years. She worked as an educator at a local beauty college. She reached a point in her life when she was ready for a life change.
Soon, Amy started a food blog while on maternity so she could share her own personal recipes with others. Her friends and family enjoyed her cooking so much that encouraged her to tackle the food prep industry since she had a knack for whipping up delicious delicacies in the kitchen.
Amy admitted that at first, she was terrified at the idea of owning her business but she did it. She started preparing meals from her home. The vast amount of orders soon outgrew her kitchen and eventually, she set out to move to her own location.
Hungry As A Mother is located at 812 South Morgan. It is set up similar to a snow cone stand. You drive up to the window and place your order. The menu offers burgers and a daily Keto Friendly plate lunch.
Every Sunday, Amy releases a weekly meal plan menu available online. Orders are accepted from the time the menu is released until Tuesday or until the meals are sold out. Hungry As A Mother offers Keto friendly options that include lots of different proteins, wraps and sides.
I stopped by on Monday. I drove up to the window and ordered a jalapeno burger with pepper jack cheese and for myself I opted for the Keto Creamy Chicken. The food was served hot, fresh and with a smile.
