First Solar has chosen the Acadiana Regional Airport for its next manufacturing facility. It will be the company’s 5th US location. According to Louisiana Economic Development, the first solar will invest upwards of $1.1 billion in the project. High-performance solar modules will be manufactured at the facility.
It’s projected the facility will bring 700 new jobs to the area, with a $40 million payroll. The modules will reportedly be constructed entirely of American-made components. Authorities estimate this will be the most significant single capital investment in Acadiana’s history. Construction is expected to be completed by early 2026.
